It’s a lot less headache. Older tractors are easier to work on. My 5093e came out right before DEF was required on all tractors with greater up than 50 hp? Can’t remember exactly but it has low hours and a ton of power. My only complaint is they didn’t put a electric fuel lift on it which helps with start up when pulling a heavy load.

You’re thinking about the big boy Agri business tractors. Farmers have a class action lawsuit going on against JD. They won’t let them buy parts and all the computer equipment software on any of their big tractors is locked down. Anytime they need any work done they have to bring it to the stealership

Absolutely 1100% FALSE. I work in big ag....not at a Deere dealership BTW. You can buy any part at a Deere dealership or a Case IH dealership, or a New Holland dealership you want. There are also customer specific electronic service tools that Deere and Case IH will sell you. Just like their own techs have.

What you CANNOT do with their tools is to MODIFY the emissions systems on the equipment. That's very illegal and can garner someone (for instance, Deere) a lot of money in fines if they sold the customer a tool that could defeat the emissions systems.

This is exactly what I did back in August.

This is an old thread.

Man, I don't know. I found this article from Jan, 2022. Maybe JD has changed their policy since then? LINK

What does that have to do with what you said earlier about how you can’t work/do maintenance on your JD tractors? Do you even know what an ECU is?

Don’t believe this fricker. He has no idea what he is talking about. You can do maintenance on your tractors.

Yes, I know what an ECU is. Did you even read the linked article from Progressive Farmer that I posted?

My 47 hp kubota keeps up my 130 acres fine but the only open land is the road system and maybe 5 acres of total clearings between barn area and food plots. If you are mowing 30 acres a 70 hp and batwing cutter would be my recommendation that it fence in the pasture for cattle

Yes, I read it. Now, how does that link prove your point when you said you couldn’t work or do routine maintenance on your JD tractors?

I didn't say that. I ASKED that. And, as I made clear, my comment was derived from a thread on this board where that topic was being discussed. I don't have a dog in this fight. Just discussing some points introduced here and in an earlier thread. I included to make that clear.

This may be the earlier thread I was referencing? Been about a year ago. It has been discussed on the board here and the PT board a couple of times if my memory is correct. LINK /

My bad. I misread and I thought you were stating it as fact.

For routine maintenance and services all you have to do is call JD give the model number and the serial number and the interval you want. They sell the parts to you or you can pay them to do everything for you.

As far as my experience with ECUs go is I call them with the ECU number and they can tell me where the problem is occurring. You can either figure it out or have a service guy come. If they come and pinpoint the problem either you can fix it or let them. I usually just have them fix it, so I can do something else.
