What age would you consider to start teaching your kids how to use a bow in the backyard? Thinking about setting some targets and letting them have a go at it.

i was shooting a long bow as early as i can remember. I just started bow hunting recently and im shooting as good or better than people i know who have bow hunted for years. I think it goes to when i shot as a kid. So i vote as early as you want.

I started shooting when I was 6 or 7. Dad never let me use sights until i was 15 or so. I can pick up a bow and shoot pretty decent even without practice.

ETA: I for a few months before season. I don't go hunting without shooting.

I bought my kids just small not quite toy bows but close when they were pretty young.

I bought my son a nice compound bow when he was 11. It's a Diamond Infinity Edge bow.

Adjustable draw and draw length. Very good bow.

My son had a Bear Brave Compound at 5. Throw the cheap arrows it came with away and cut some decent target arrows down to size and it was a great little bow. He shot it all the time until he out grew it. He has a larger bow now but hardly ever shoots.

Mine was shooting cheap long bows in the yard since he was 5. He never would stick with it for long but it did teach him the basics.

He killed his first with a bow a couple weeks ago. He turns 11 this month.

I got him an "infinite edge pro" last Christmas.

I don't think he could have started any earlier. I'm sure every kid is different though. Get him a bow and start shooting, when you think he is good enough to hunt you will know.

Great tip above, get good arrows even for the cheap bow.
