I fish PAC when I visit parents back in south louisiana. Next trip will be a river trip in texas. I've had the itch for a few months now. Don't want to get laid off next week but I feel it is inevitable. If so I'm doing an overnight trip somewhere.

What would a decent starter setup costs? I want pedals and not a paddle. I would go in circles for hours with a paddle. Is there a decent used market?

You can find a used Hobie Compass, older Outbacks, even the occasional Pro Angler, starting in the $1500 range. Occasionally deals pop up for the older Outbacks with the crappy seats in the ~$1000 range too.

Where is the best place to find used kayaks?

$1,200-$1,500 and you can find a really solid starter yak on Facebook Marketplace. Lots of 2016ish Hobies out there.

Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, Louisiana Sportsman, etc.

12'seems to be the perfect length for me.

I don't have a ton of experience with many other pedal crafts, before I purchased I spent a day in a Hobie Compass and a day in a Jackson FD Cruise. The Hobie drive was ridiculously more efficient and I didn't even care about the no reverse thing. I hated the Jackson drive so much I'd rather have paddled.
ETA: Atleast 12' length, though Native makes a 10'er that's supposed to be pretty good.

ETA: I missed that you wanted pedals.
If that's the case, look at Old Town, Native, and Jackson primarily along with Hobie.

Screw that guy. He gets to fish on weekdays.
I am in the central part of the state, but fish Big Lake a ton. If you and No8 work something out let me know and I may tag along.
