We shoot and trap around 600 a year on our lease and our neighbors do the same and the population still continues to grow. You think im cleaning that many damn hogs? They screw up everything. Fix roads they demolish them, Fix levee they root it up, plant food plots they plow it up, don't even try to put feed out unless you want a huge hole in the ground. I clean about 6-7 per year to eat and roast. Everybody says they wan't them if I kill them but when you call and tell that person to come pick it up they expect it cleaned for them. frick that, in the dump pile they go. I see them no different than a coon or coyote. Sure they are good to eat but you can only eat so many.

Shot this guy a couple of weeks ago. He reeked to high heaven and went to feed the coyotes and buzzards. We'll keep sows and boars under 100lbs if we need the meat or have someone that wants them.
ETA: I don't gut shoot them either. As much as I hate them, I don't wish them a slow painful death. If I shoot them with a rifle, I kinda pride myself on making them drop right where they stand.

You know far trashier people than I know. I don't know of anyone who would intentionally gut shot a hog, whether they want the meat on not.
As a matter of fact, I call you out as a liar. You sound like an anti-hunter type, making up outrageous claims and attributing it to an anonymous jerk.
Hogs are not a "nuisance" to other game, they are a destructive species that will and do eat every baby, nest or food of other species they come across.

Go check out the Louisiana or mississppi whitetail fb pages. There was a thread not too long ago of a bunch of folks bragging on gut shotting them.
A dude posted a video of a hog he spined. It was trying to get up and he was kicking it back down and talking shite to it instead of killing it.

I honestly believe those type of people make up a very small percentage of outdoorsmen. I could be completely wrong though

I hate hogs probably more than anyone but I never want to see them or any other animal suffer from unethical shots. It doesn't bother me to throw them but no animal deserves to suffer. It hurts my stomach any time I have spined an animal or hear it moaning bc it wasn't a quick kill.

Damn, that's a little further than I want to drive to pick up pigs. I like eating the sows. Fried a piglet whole for Thanksgiving and it was great

I use to clean kill them, haul them back to camp, then skin, butcher, and eat them. For me, it got to be too much of a hassle and I felt like it was a waste of my time.
I started gut shooting them so they would run off and let me finish deer hunting in peace. If you kill one, your hunt is over at that location. Screw that!
