Whats the best rates or reasonable rates for a tuna trip? I want to go but don't have a lot of friends interested in a trip to the gulf. I know the more people you bring, usually the better rate you get.

Please Advise
TIA

Look at $1500 + fuel and tip. Up to 6 people in your party max. Best fishing for tuna would be out of Venice which is a shorter run to the tuna grounds.

Went with Cap't Eddie Burger out of Venice last week.

6 men at $250 each plus fuel
Fuel was right at $800 that day, according to the guy that paid for the trip.

A tuna trip is not one to try and cut costs on.

Dude--go with Lance Walker of Fish Commander or Ryan Dicharry with Reel Addiction. Both are great guys who will put you on fish and show you a great time.

Going rate for tuna trips is going to be ~$1400/ day + fuel. Some charters offer a trip with fuel included for ~$2/2.2k. If you just want to go offshore, rig trips(sans red snapper) will be a bit cheaper. I like to pay fuel at the end of the trip because not every trip requires a 300 mile round trip. Trips in late August/ September and October tend to have th ehighest liklihood of getting a good bite closer to shore but its not guaranteed either...

Most of the bad operations have been fleeced out after Katrina and BP but there's still a number of guys I just don't like. I won't mention them by name but will mention the ones I do. You couldn't go wrong with any of the following:

Eddie Berger and Lee McLean
Billy Wells
Hunter Cabellero and Scott Leger
Lance Walker
William Wall -- he'd probably be my preference
Al Walker
Mike Ellis

That's the short list but there's more I'd go with that I just didn't mention...
