Trolling Motor Battery Question

I have a 36 volt trolling motor. Currently have 3 Optima Blue Top batteries, model D27M. One of the batteries has gone bad. Any issues putting any other 12 volt battery in the connection? If so, any recommendations? The Optima is a couple of months out of warranty. Not sure I want to drop another $300 on a blue top if the battery will last just over 2 years.

I love my Sams club duracels.

Got all new duracels from Sam's a few months ago. Around $90 a pop and same performance as the expensive ones.

Also posted on The Hull Truth and guys recommended the Sams Duracell. Did you get the AGM Duracell batteries from Sams?

Regular old group 27 flooded cell.

Imo, spiral cel batteries are extremely over rated and priced. I get two-three years out of my lead batteries for less than $100 each. Eventually will go lithium when the price justifies it.

My opinion from dealing with all the new AGM batteries on the automotive side, they are good for handling small amp pull systems and want constant attention from an 120 plus amp alternator. They don't like a trickle charge.
Go lead deep cycle.

Can you elaborate on this? I'm about to buy 3 AGMs for a 36volt minn kota and I'll have a minn kota 3 bank charger on them. Will they just not charge or does it just take forever?

Digital will not bring those batteries up, would buy lead if were my money. Zero advantage in Spiral or agm batteries at this point.

Depending on the model of charger, Minnkota has a AGM setting. I have had my optima AGM 2+ years with no problems

Friend has one in his race car, $2500 for the battery and over a grand for the charger. That would buy batteries for several vehicles for a long time.
The debate on AGM vs conventional flooded is really vehicle dependent. Most newer vehicles, especially luxury, have AGM because the on-board systems draw current constantly and more of it. Mercedes and Range Rover techs recommend regular deep charging because the alternator and programmed power management won't keep the battery(ies) charged enough over time and eventually they'll need replacement sooner than they should. I put my trucks on a good charger overnight once a month or so, battery in my F-150 is over 9 years old now and no issues, Deka AGM. My other has a FoMoCo battery that is a high-temp silver-calcium FLA, not sure if I'll go AGM or not when it's time to replace it, but it's 7 years old and still going.

36V Lithium for a year now. Its been fantastic. I get the same power from it at 2pm that I get from it at 7am. I haven't run it out yet, and I still can't wrap my head around that kind of power coming from a 25 lb battery.
