that shite is not easy! We went to the madisonville rice field canal and saw 1 frog that we missed on the grab. we heard frogs everywhere but the water was so high the banks were flooded/couldn’t get to where we were hearing the frogs with our outboard. Did we just pick a bad night? We intended on launching on the corner of t-funky and ponchartrain but that whole road was flooded so we launched up river at the bridge and ran down to the spot. Does high water really affect frogging negatively or do we just suck?
Thanks

High water spreads them out and makes them difficult to locate for sure.

They are hard to see if you're not used to looking for them too. They could easily have been right in front of you and you not know it.

You probably drove right past a ton of them. I tried frogging a bunch of times before I figured out how to spot them. I went with someone that was good a couple times before I really figured it out.

High water makes it harder for sure. With low water, they usually sit on the banks below the grass line and are easy to spot.

High water makes it extremely difficult to find frogs you can get to. You catch that water right and go with fun people and it's a blast.

Frogs are there. we went the other night and caught 30 on the main canal. I would advise against going into the rice fields or any canal that goes into the private marsh as the owners of that land do legally own that marsh according to LA's unique laws. They also frog out there quite often and are honestly really nice guys, just dont want to be on their bad side. stick to the main canal and watch the water. Most of them we caught were floating in the middle of the grass growing 3-5 feet off the bank..

OMG. My Dad used to take us to the rice field there when I was a kid (we're talking about fifty years ago). We used to go crawfishing in the shallows behind the levee and fish for bass on the other side. You are the only person on here that knows about that place.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Will try going back when the water isn’t high. Gotta check the tide charts next time lol

I love running jugs and yo-yo's back there, towards Guste bridge.

I have some jugs I made with pvc and pool noodles. If I wanna run them in that canal, how long should the line be? And weighted or not? Shrimp? Worm?
