freeze some bottles of ice. That's too long to be out of ice chest.

So pack in ice chest and put water bottles frozen on top?

I would freeze some water bottles and put at the bottom of an ice chest. Then put the crabs upside down in trays on top of the frozen bottles. Think shallow boxes like when you buy a dozen from Schaefer.

I think you should be most concerned with not letting them get hot. They don't need to be ice cold. They sit out all day at any seafood store, and often get put up overnight and brought out again the next day. a few hours in a cool ice chest won't hurt them.

That's not how a seafood store should handle them.

I would put them on ice and get them cold and then reheat them if you want them hot or just eat them cold.
