The big deer in OP skirted me that year, saw him once but got busted by a little one and spooked him. I got him the following year, he wasn't as wide but had more mass. Definitely lost some inches though, I found his left shed the first year and I cant remember exactly but it was a good 5-7 inches bigger than when I shot him. Dont have any great pics without my face in it so yall will have to deal with tc pics.

They're adding it on quick now. Here's a few pics of my biggest so far. He's going to be a giant.

Can you be more specific, for scientific reasons?

Thats a freakin grunt right there spunk.
Bow or gun?

If I remember right you hunt Ga as well. I’m going to go out on a leg here and say Atlanta suburbs maybe? Seems like most I see in that class are bowkills from the smaller areas around Atown

You don’t have any hog problems? I don’t feed this early because it keeps the bastards around

No, I'm in middle ga it was with a bow though.

I've been lucky enough not to have an issue with hogs too much. Lot of swamps on neighboring properties and they stay there for the most part. Occasionally they'll come through but not often. My buddy down the road is overran with them.

Wow, as big as they are and as conditioned to eating out of that trough feeder you should experiment next growing season with feeding protein in it heavily. Those deer are already giants just imagine with a good quality protein feed during growing season could do to help them reach their full genetic potential....which looks to be a lot!

I've been feeding protein year round since 2018. I cant say 100% that it makes a difference because its impossible to tell, but I'm not going to stop doing it because it certainly doesn't hurt . I'm very fortunate to have great genetics and have been really good about letting younger deer walk. It's gotten easier over the past few years after seeing the results of having another year to grow. I still catch some shite from my buddies when I let a 140" walk but they'll never get 160" if you kill em at 140".

That’s the best mindset to have. Proofs in the pics! I try to do the same on my 2 properties, but only little over 100 acres in Port gibson and same amount between Vicksburg and Utica you never know what the neighbors will shoot. If I dhoot em though, they have no chance to make it another year, so I let the young ones walk too. It has paid off in most cases, but I’ve had neighbors kill a few nice ones I’ve passed. You win some and lose some.
