Laugh all you want, AK's are for terrorists and Commies as far as I'm concerned.

I like the SKS much better than the AK, so sue me. Of course, I prefer the FAL, M1A, AR-15 and AR-10 to either of the Commie guns.

One day I'll get an AR-10. Til then I guess I'll just have to make do.

I looked at a brand new smith 66 4" a little while ago.

Holy shite that is one fine arse piece of steel. Not sure how that and an AK are something to choose between. Starting to save money right now for one.

I have an arsenal sam7r and it's by far my favorite gun to shoot. It's reliable and very well constructed. Never jammed and has a milled receiver. Plus you can buy 1000rds for less than $250. Try finding 1000rds of .357 for that price...

There's no way any man could not like that gun. It's a piece of art.

I think you and I are about as polar opposite as one can get on this board

I like wheel guns too especially in .357 but my 4" ruger gp100 isn't nearly as fun or cheap to shoot as the arsenal ak...

Probably so. I can't think of anything I'd use an ak for other than burning up my wallet

So it's an Ak

I started leaning SW today, but the board has spoken overwhelmingly

The SW is old school with the thin wood grips and I have found that I'm a short barrel guy. My 1911 is 3"

I can say the same about a wheel gun. At least I can have fun shooting the AK. Its also cheaper to shoot. I have no use for a wheel gun being that I would never bring it in my car or leave in my nightstand (got the Glock for that )

This. I've had mine for 30+ years and love it. Killed 9 deer with it, too. Lost count of groundhawgs and cats. Some people can't shoot a handgun accurately. I can. And you can shoot .38 Special in it, too.

The stock trigger on the pre 1987 model 29/ 66 is the best there is.

I bought a 66-2 6" stainless
for 450 a couple weeks ago.
Been looking for a couple of years and finally found a good deal on one. I wanted the 4 inch barrel but couldn't turn the 6 inch down at this price

Sweet looking handgun! And you got a great price on it. You can knock walnuts outta of a tree with that.

So I think I found a pre model 36 nickel in excellent condition. If that doesn't work out...an AK it is

I would get more day to day use out of it and it would be perfect for my wife to learn with (she's a northerner: she used to be freaked out by guns especially when she found my beretta a few years ago) the perfect intro/non freak out gun for her. Perfect for my office and conceal carry (when I want to mix it up: my kimber ultra raptor ii is pretty kewl)

ETA: sorry to break my own agreement in the OP, but I was 50/50 now I'm 60/40 and that's where I stop.
