The linked article came to me by way of Greg Ellifritz. It's a November 1, 2017 article/essay published by the NRA on their website.

Some might argue about the content of the article, and some might add bad advice they've heard that goes beyond the three items listed. But overall I think it's pretty accurate.

Another thing they say is some women have hard time racking gun, well if they hve right gun, i doubt they'll have the need to rack the gun at all. Just like I doubt they are going to reload the revolver

Yep. And I prove this myth wrong with every woman who comes in my class. I still have yet to find one who can't properly rack a full sized 9, and that includes a wide variety of ages of women.

Definitely agree with #2 and #3 from the article - get the tiny pink gun or get the revolver. Or get the tiny pink revolver.

Full size, yes. I? have found women have difficulties with compact pistols. The kind that are usually pushed on women by gun stores and men who think small guns are for women.

What’s this mean? Are you saying there’s no need to be able to properly clear or reload a weapon? I’m confused.

I would agree. I've seen all three of those in particularly the .38 special snub revolver. A friend of mine bought one after a cop told her that that's all she would need and prefer it over their glocks.

Gun world is filled with myths and misconceptions making it hard for any newbie whether man or woman to wade through it.

For sure.

The way I see it is that the full sized 9 is the perfect starting point. It may not be easy to rack at first or easy to shoot at first (for a novice) but it gets easier and easier after every manipulation. Then after a comfort is established on the full size gun, she can now work on manipulating a smaller gun if she chooses.

The bad method would be trying to force her to manipulate a small gun from the start, which we know is not the smartest choice and can steer some apprehensive shooters away.
