Yeah, my pablanos are already runted due to the hornworms eating the leaves. The habaneros haven't been hit yet...I had the biggest thrill seeing a dead young raccoon with a half-eaten habanero near it last year. I can't say for sure it killed it, but I'm hoping. I tried not dusting last year, but have decided not to negotiate with terrorists now. Shame.
I would prefer not to dust either, but I'd rather do that than have plants eaten down to nubs. The good thing about BT-k is that it's a biological agent tailored for killing only caterpillars and isn't really a chemical agent more akin to pesticides.

No tomatoes yet, but plenty of banana peppers/jalapanos. No cucuumbers either, plants about to take over yet none on the vine as I type.

Got 2 "bellpepper" plants from my grandfather that ended up being banana peppers. They are starting to get an orange coloration mixed in with the yella. Past time to pluck em?
Got 4 mater plants and have only about 6 maters turning orange.

I was thinking of making some home made rotel. Need a way to make them last. It is easy to grow them faster than you can eat them so need to spread the eating part out. Anybody ever done this before... make rotel? Never done it before myself.

this hot weather has destroyed my tomato production. I see only 3 left on 4 bushes. anyone still producing? any tips?

Mine are still going strong. I have about 20 or so still on the plants and more are coming on. I haven't pruned them so they grew down to the ground and have grown back to the top of the plant. I never thought I would have this many tomatoes. Now for the bell peppers... I have only harvested 2-3, but I have 3-4 that will be ready soon.

I make rotel with 70% of mine. Great way to enjoy them throughout the year. I do not eat them raw!

Although very happy to see the rain, it has been hell on my almost ripe tomatoes. I lost a bunch due to cracking yesterday.

why wont you eat them if they are cracked? i just pick them and let them finish ripening indoors. cut off a little bit of it if necessary. they've all tasted good to me.

Depends on how bad they are cracked. Minor cracking I don't care. Gives them a little character. Bad cracking I chunk them. They leak too bad on my window seal and fruit flies will be all over them.
