I have been fishing Lake Boudreaux and Lake Robin for a few years now and want to try the area over by Lake Mechant. Where is the best/closest place to launch? Any tips to catch fish?

Thanks

I leave from Falgout canal but it would be much easier to put in at the end of the road. Not sure what the name of the landing is but it is much closer also.

Sister lake-birds are usually feeding everywhere. Not my thing but a lot of people fish that way.

Mechant-some birds feeding but I usually look for oyster reefs with current moving. The points all seem to have plenty of reds. Trout could still be in some spots but most will have moved out to the coast.

Launch at Jug's landing in lower dularge. The northern sides of both lakes are the better sides. If you are looking for trout you are too late really. You can catch some small ones and quite a few of them but not many keepers. Fish the islands in moving water.

Landing at the end of the road is Jugs, only a 10 min run to sister or mechant from there.

10 minutes at most, usually cut through mud lake if I'm fishing mechant, and will cut through bayou jones to hit sister sometimes depending on where I'm fishing.

I really need to learn that area more. I know all of mechant and sister except for mud lake and east of W&F in sister.

Ever run up dularge to falgout? I have heard there are lots of wake zones but it still seems like it would be faster than going across decade and through raccourci

I dont know man, its a long way. If you just run on step the whole way may be quicker, not sure about wake zones but there's alot of boats docked along side the bayou that you probably wouldn't want to be a dick and run through on step.

Also have the bridge right after crossing falgoust canal to contend with as well, I dont think is's very tall. and its definitely not manned.

Unless your boat is in the water at Falgout I dont see how it would be faster than jsut trailering it down 10 min. My theory is its always cheaper to burn gas in the truck than a boat!

We keep the boat in a slip with no trailer

Definitely easiest to launch at Juggs.
Was down last week and the water was terrible in both Sister Lake and Mechant.
Scratched a few reds out down Falgout heading to Decade.
I'm a couple miles from Falgout down Brady Rd. I ran the canal all the way to Bayou Jones. It's a long arse trip since you have to go pretty slow. Although there were quite a few who just ran wide open regardless of whether there were boats. I personally try not to go that.
I'll go out of Juggs from now on if I'm heading south.

May run to the coast this week just to see what it's about.

That is where the nice trout are. Just need the weather to settle down some.

Would it be a better idea to fish Lake Barre? I've never fished it either.

Go to pelican pass. You should be able to put a mess together there.

I haven't been there since last year but considering the specks are at the islands, they are definitely in pelican pass. Bay Junop is a safe bet too. The west side of the pass where the bayou pours in is good for topwaters as long as the water is slick.
