Yeah I had it cruised and the forester recommended cutting it saying it was at least 50 years old.

I know there is a big log mill in Amite but I hear he wants only 16 inch + tips. Some of it could go there.

Email me at nocolorstd@gmail.com and I will send someone out to look at it and give you a price and recommendation. It's within range of our mill. There's a couple of other mills that might be in range also.

You must be close by. One of the tracts they’re trying to sell is right around the corner. They started cutting but had to move off. I had thought about buying it a couple times — it just doesn’t set up great for hunting. Worried they’ll make a mess of it by the time they’re done.

I thought the choke point was the production at the sawmills and not the wood making it to the sawmill. If this is the case, supply of wood isn't the issue and prices probably aren't going up much

You are correct, I work at a papermill and we have plenty of wood. The demand for paper has been strong through out this pandemic but we have had no shortage of logs.

Haha. Yep.

Really cool area. Pretty rugged. Grows trees better than the soil maps would suggest.

Y’all buying any of the neighboring tracts?

If you can get those prices AND your timber needs to be thinned or cut, sell. Those are pretty good prices. Our delivered price to the mill was just cut and everyone is on quotas.

Get reputable timber company with forester or management company to look. Yea prices suck, but better to sell and improve stand or replant now than let it start dying.

Might buy a 320 that would give us some access and protection. But it's not worth the $2200 they're asking. We are probably buyers at $1500 or so.

Alright most recent prices i have received for Amite County MS are...

Pine top wood $4/ton
Cut pine logs $23/ton
Canfor pine logs $26/ton
Pine poles $41.50/ton
Poplar wood $200/m
Pallet wood $24/ton
Hdwood mat log $32.50/ton

With no nut bearing trees cut in the hardwood unless its to salavage a down tree.

Sound pretty fair for the region?
