Of course I read that all twice and I have absolutely no idea what any of it means.

I spent 3 days reading about it. I still don’t know everything.

Whats the consensus on these? Just ordered the XT50 binos on sale. Would this athlon scope be a good compliment?

so you bought a $7k+ optic dedicated to scanning, cream of the crop 1280 resolution , why would you pair it with a knock off thermal scope? The merger image is unreal. Not one bad thing I can say about them.

If you’re looking to save a few bucks, a pulsar thermion 2 XQ50 pro will be better than that Athlon or any pop up thermal company. Don’t cut corners now. The XP50 or XL50 can likely be found for a steal since they are being discontinued.

Buy a reputable brand. Quality of the parts used (germanium, display screen, thermal sensor) is a big part in image quality and optic longevity. All of these pop up Chinese knockoff companies use crap parts

Thats why i come here! Thanks seapickl. Sounds like i may have to buy twice cry twice. I may have done it backwards but i figure with the binos i can locate easier so i splurged on the top of the line. Once i know where my game is i can get on it easier with a cheaper scope. I do see your point going with an older or lesser pulsar.
Thrilled to get my hands on this merger.

It’s more than spotting with the merger and using a lesser scope quality to kill. I’ve personally seen situations where “lesser” brands don’t hold zero, have different zeros at different zooms, have processing delays so the image you see is a second delayed. All of these cause a missed or wounded animal.

Pulsar has not told me of any price increases due to tariffs. Regardless, my statement still stands. I rather spend a few extra bucks and get something quality

The merger will ruin your image expectations for a scope so going to a 384 res or lesser brand will be underwhelming.
The thermion XL60 series will be the closest to the merger. I run the XL60 and it’s the best out there. In the past I’ve owned the XL50, XP50, trail 2 XQ50 and trail XQ38 and have looked plenty more.

They are now Noxpix or whatever. They use Chinese stuff so they had to rebrand. Do want you want with that info.
I’m not a fan of their image. Too much contrast and it seems to always needs focus.

Wow. The pulsar xt50s are amazing. I am still in shock at what i paid but with a little overtime i will slowly forget. The picture is crisp. They are lighter and smaller than i thought ..in a good way. Will have to spend a lot of time attaching to the app and learning my way around them.
Went in the woods today and didnt see anything.. too windy.

I have a Pulsar XP50 2 currently. Would it be worth it to upgrade or wait a few more years for the technology to change.

Also what’s you favorite settings to get the best image for scanning open fields at long distances.

The XG50 is not an upgrade from the XP50. That xp50 T2 (I’ve owned two of them) gives an unreal image. It’s a more sensitive thermal sensor than the XG50. Only downside is that the xp50 is a 17micron so image retention when zooming it not great.

The xg50 is discontinued, that’s why it’s cheap, I never liked its image either.

Technology is always changing. Waiting might not the thing to do. This year pulsar release the 60 line up. The XP60, XG60 and XL60. I’ve used the XG60 and it’s a huge improvement over the XG50. It’s great for long range at 4x base and 12 micron. I may grab one as a back up scope/coyote scope at the end of this year.

I own the XL60. 1024 res 12 micron at 2.5x base. Great middle ground for 80yrd pig groups and 300yd coyotes. and superb image rentention for long range.

XG60 and XL60 I have no issue ID dogs/deer/pigs at 1000yds. Technically no settings help you ID further, that comes with time in the scope. You can try the ultra contrast setting to get object more contrast but personally I don’t think it makes much difference. More resolution and a 12 micron scope will help you more than settings

I have no used the XP60 but it’s has the same sensor as the XP50 so it can only be great.

All 60 series have the biggest and highest resolution display screen so you feel even more zoomed in.

The XP50, XL50 and XG50 are discontinued and replaced by the above 60 series.

Technically I run a helmet mounted thermal to scan. I’m only in my scope when I need to ID past 6-700yds or it’s time to shoot.

It’s a 640res 12 micron 1x thermal scanner. I use it to drive the dirt bike from property to property and through fields.

Quality optics are what you need to ID far, not the cheap shite most people push on here
