Mud Daubers. At work we duct tape the pee hole on our engines for this reason

I prefer a glob of grease. Keeps the bugs out and doesn't require you to remember to remove it.

took it home, flushed all the water lines, ran weed eater string where i could reach and used compressed air to clear the lines. Still would not improve the flow.
I then took it to a local outboard mechanic. They stated nothing is wrong with it..
I personally wouldn't accept that answer, not having a good tell tale working would be a major point of stress for me and I don't stress very easily.
Given that, this is a great thread, I never considered greasing it over during storage that's a great suggestion.

Was having the same exact problem with a Yamaha 4 stroke. The motor would run fine, not overheat, but little to no water would flow out the tell tale.

Has it always pissed hard and started pissing weak?
Some engines don't flow much out of the pisser. Some only do it when the thermostat is open. I'm not familar with the jamahas but if it has good water pressure in the block then there is indeed nothing serious wrong with it.
Some engines, like my etech for example, will piss 40 yards if you point the pisser up. My old 25 mercury just dribbles a little bit and only when the thermostat is open.
When in doubt, change the water pump, then look elsewhere.

Second the grease. Anything petroleum or containing hydrocarbons and the dirt dauber won't touch. My 3.5 Mercury quit peeing and I blew air through the bleed hose. Still plugged. While searching for impeller part number, my buddy grabs the air hose and blows through the foot. Pees like a race horse now.

Completely agree, especially for the fact that the voltage regulator is upstream of the tell tale.

Crank it up with ear muffs at the house, put a compressor nozzle to the piss hole and blow it out. We have a camp on the West Pearl, I have a problem with calcium build up from running my flat boat in it. Usually clears it up just fine.
