I'm supposed to be picking up a lifetime Yukon Angler tomorrow for a good price. Been searching marketplace for awhile and wanted something fairly cheap to get back. Plan on using it on the rivers around the northshore.

I was just looking at some bridges on the Comite as put in spots. Dad and I use to bass fish the Comite in the 80s, putting in at Hwy 10 near Clinton, or on Plank. Great fishing back then but the river was more accessible. I have a WC Commander 12’ I think would be perfect.
Dad is 82 and says he is still willing to go. Not sure he could scramble up those banks anymore though.

You should definitely take him,but know you will be doing most of the lifting and dragging the kayak.

I'm not familiar with those. Try both out if you can and see which fits you better. If I were to buy a new kayak I'd look at Native and Old Town.

I was in academy today and they had the Magellan 10' sit on top on sale for $499. The plastic felt pretty thick and didn't seem like much flex. Not sure about how they paddle or who actually makes them. But if I didn't just find this one on Facebook, I would have probably done some research on them.

Glad I searched before starting a new thread on this.
We're starting to look at a couple of kayaks - a single and and tandem for lake use only, no offshore, no whitewater and not for fishing. Max of 16' so it doesn't have to be registered.
Thoughts on inflatable vs hardside? From my preliminary search, inflatable are certainly easier to store and some have reviews of good durability. I've read that hard side is faster, tracks better, and is easier to paddle.
What else do I need to know for someone who's never had a boat in my life.
This is just for family recreation to explore lakes in the Mountain West region.

I've been between the RVR or the shoalie, just was waiting for a good deal on either. Worked out well for me.

So far its been great. Takes me up river in the hill country rivers and has done great on the flats. It will spook reds just like my trolling motor so you have to consider that. I will say im running a 38.4v 50 amp battery. At full throttle it will go fast. Probably 1.5 hours by my estimate. Pull back to 7/8 throttle and I have ridden 6 hours in a day covered about 10 miles and used 70% of battery. Im testing a 56v tomorrow to see if I can get up past 6.2 mph. I know its only gonna last 10ins though. Its a 5amp battery for a weedeater

Does it paddle somewhat decently? And what rivers have you taken it down? Im so pumped for my upcoming llano trip.
I remember you mentioned the San Marcos. What stretches are you targeting?

I go to shady grove campground in martindale, pay to park at the take out at staples dam, and would drop off boat drive down park and then catch ride back with someone. Now I just roll up river. And float back. I think that stretch from martindale dam to staples dam has the best fishing. Still plenty of guadalupe bass in the bends and when you get close to staples dam it more like a lake the last 1.5 miles. So plenty of largemouth. And it paddles fine. Tracks better than my old 10 foot native slayer propel. The seat is somewhat disappointing to some degree. Doesn't seem any better than the seat in my old native. Is it worth what it costs? I can now use power to get back when im tired and no trolling motor or pedal drive to hit bottom. Fits my needs there.

Got out for a couple hours on my family pond to test this thing out. Decided to throw a white choppo 75 on a 5'8" falcon peacock bass rod I picked up a few weeks ago for river fishing.
Had pretty good success right before daybreak and about an hour after. Here's the two I bought in, had several other blowups.
Didn't have a measuring board, but a foot measurement worked fine.
I plan on hitting the tangi River tomorrow morning to float.

We are going to float 40 to 442, but not keeping any. More of a test run on the river than an actual fishing trip.
My buddy did 38 to 440 on Wednesday and had a good catch.

I can let you know after tomorrow, but there's a few videos of locals doing it over the years on YouTube.
