Somewhere between Anchorage and Denali, just removed from wilderness, just off the Fishhook Hwy in Willow sits one of the most curious houses I've ever seen. There are some strange ones in the area. A Castle house in Palmer, an Igloo hotel near Denali but none come close to the awesomeness of the Dr. Suess house. Off the Parks, Hwy, right on Willow Fishhook Rd, across a river you'll find this beast. Willow is not so much a town, but a place for mushers, trappers, pilots, and fishing guides. It's said the man who started the project passed away and it sat unfinished for 10 years. Supposedly someone from Anchorage bought it and had it completed. Lots of mystery surrounds the house, but it probably has a fine view of Denali.

If any of you wanderers, tourists, fishermen or hunters ever venture that way, stop and get a look at the Dr. Suess House.

Still a little close to the earthquake zone to be building something like that.

Willow is pretty stable. It's not far from some prime fishing grounds though at the Deshka Landing. Wonder if they'd rent that though out for an OB fishing party.

It would take me 30 minutes to walk to the top.

Nah, they get heavy winds coming through the area. Seems to be very stable. Not strange to get 60-80 mph winds through Willow. Think the current owner just uses it for his summer fishing cabin.

That's an awesome house but it seems like it'd be wind prone

I'm not privy to the engineering that went into it but that thing surviving 80mph ain't happening.

Willow is in the Susitna Valley which funnels winds between the Alaska Range and Talkeetna Mts. High winds are common, and it's still standing.

Looks like it just has plastic sheets instead of windows. Wind wouldn't be an issue like that. Plus the pictures are taken at angles to make it look taller and skinnier than it is

I love the Alaskan definition of "Completed"

Visqueen windows and Tyvek siding.

Tyvek, blue tarp and duct tape are acceptable finishing materials.

Needs to be rednecked up. Food plots + feeders = hell of a deer stand.
