I am not going to quote your entire post. Would it be nice if someone shot these people? Of course. But the chances of a kid armed and on the scene at the right moment having the ability to take a person out? Very tough. We will never know.
Chances of a 21 year old being a dipshit with his pistol on campus? Higher.
Older guy shot a woman in a restaurant here in Houston. His Derringer fell out of his pocket! Why fricking carry a derringer as your CHL weapon? Because you are a dipshit. Technology and safety have made advances in the last 100 years.
There are safer options than a derringer.
My whole point is I see the chances of this happening more than the chance of a kid stepping up and being John Wayne and putting an armed psychopath down.

was the guy actually licensed to conceal carry? or was he just some idiot carrying a gun?
I'm planning on getting mine as soon as I turn 21 and from what I've heard they drill you with safety and there's a lot of target shooting as well. It seems like someone who had gone through that trouble would know better.
and a year ago at LSU some whacko drove his car into the quad LINK
I walked right past all this happening as I was going to class, and the lsu pd didn't show up for a long time.
I was there, had he pulled a gun, I could've "taken him out" IF lsu would allow concealed carry

Chl aren't meant for people to be driving all around trying to fight crime, chl's are for a person to use when his or life is in danger. While I agree accidents can happen I will say for the most part people that take on the responsibility are mature enough to understand the laws and rules. Just because they may pass this doesn't mean every kid in tx will start carring a gun. But if it does pass the people that think about shooting up a school or class, will have to consider there may be multiple people that can put him down

I hope you are right. I just see a negative in it as well. Hopefully it would be a lot of "responsible" gun owners there, but I live in Texas and can definitely see a few "tackleberry's" running around too.

Do you realize you have refrenced a movie or actor in every single post in this thread in an effort to support your view of what reality is?
A reality where you contend that those choosing to get a CHL would be reckless, less effective than "bat shite crazy", and less dangerous to the general public than a human target fleeing in panic.
Ultimately, you are entitled to your opinion as I am mine but I urge you to do some research into the numbers supporting the saftey of legal firearm carry.

Numbers on this are hard to find. How often has it happened? It would take a Perfect Storm (movie reference) for a shooter to start his rampage with a CHL holder nearby. Add to it that CHL holder having the stones to take the guy down. We can talk shite all we want but in a public place and not cornered in our own home do we run to gunfire or back down? I like to think I know the answer but I don't.

One thing that I think will keep a lot of college kids from getting one is the strict alcohol rules when you have a CHL, in the state of Texas you can't have a firearm on your person or within reach if you are out in public. If you are stopped and you blow anything over .00 its a felony. This will make a a lot of kids think twice about getting a chl and the responsiblity that comes with.

I think the college campus numbers may be a bit skewed... as you are forgetting about graduate students, law school students and faculty.
I would think, depending on the school, that a large number of faculty would consider a CHL.
The guy here in Houston with the Derringer did/does, I believe, have his permit, he;'s just an idiot!

With the alcohol deal... I didn't drink in class, so I would still carry to class then just leave it at home if I was going out.
Besides, with the 51% Law you aren't allowed to carry in many places that serve anyway.

I agree it sounds easy enough....but go and take the class and listen to the instrutor read the number of newspaper clippings of the people that forget they have it in there purse, brief case, back packs, or don't want to put in the truck of their car before walking into a bar.
