For those from Tensas, and those who hunt in Tensas, the deer was at Yucatán in NE of the parish on the river.

(@257wb, across the levee from Capdepon’s machine shop.)

If you hunt in Tensas, Madison, Franklin, find Yucatán on the map, draw 50mi radius, and that will likely be where the feed ban is implemented initially, with the outskirts lifting ban more quickly than areas closer to ground zero if no other cases are found.

Tensas and possibly Madison will have feed ban in place for the upcoming season. Franklin is probably safe.

Just passing it along. Confirmed by GW.

You’re welcome.

That sucks. My hunting backyard is 23mi away as the crow flies. Still gonna hit us though. Start thinking about your food plots.

Eta: grammar

I feed deer behind my house in Crowville. I don't hunt them. I hunt my land in Madison and public in Tensas. Guess I'll plant a plot in Crowville for my pets.

I didn’t read about the ban, but is it an outright ban on feeding? Or is it a ban on hunting over feeders? For example, if you get you a cow and you feed it sweet feed everyday. The deer just happen to jump over the fence and eat it also. What is the game warden going to do about it?

I don't think the ban is official yet...
but we will likely have one in a 50 mile radius of that location.

Make an “effort” to keep deer out, nothing.

This isn’t a ban on hunting over feeders, it’s a ban on feed, period.

People are losing their shite because it affects baiting hogs for thinning, but there is a work around. Show effort, and you’ll be good.

Eta: ban is official. Went into effect couple days ago. LDWF is going live on FB tomorrow at noon to address and answer questions.

He’s going to do the same thing he will do if you shoot ducks or doves over that same feed that was put out for those same cows!!

As many hogs as there are now.. Baiting isn't really necessary. I saw hogs every time I was in the woods.
They really need to lets us loose on the hogs. The trapping they have been doing isn't making a dent.

I don’t follow? We have free reign to kill as many as we want day or night.

I'm talking about Big Lake and Tensas. While you can take them during deer season, you can't hunt them at other times. It's like a protected breeding pen.

No feeding deer, hunting or not, in Tensas, Madison, and Franklin.

You can hunt them in Tensas during squirrel season, right?

You can hunt them in Tensas year around except in restricted areas.

If you have private land, just notify the SO, and you’re good.

ETA: when y’all say Tensas, are you referring to the parish as a whole or the refuge/restricted areas?

I'm referring to the refuge. Tensas National and Big lake WMA. I could kill hundreds if they let me loose with my thermal.
