Move over, doggies. And there's no way Bubba with toys doesn't fudge this privilege to find where they're at. I don't see any details about thermal vs. camera in the bill, decent chance that gets edited if this gets out of committee.

Over half the deer I find are still alive, but mortally wounded (gut, liver, etc). A drone isn't about to go bay a deer in that scenario. A GOOD dog will always be superior to a drone. I do sometimes wish I had a thermal drone though, mainly for scanning areas when a hunter just doesn't believe that his brisket shot will live to see another day, and is laying out there dead somewhere.

A drone equipped with thermal camera will find that deer and not push it out like a dog will.

I have found a deer that a drone operator charged $500 to search for and couldn't find. I know dozens of dog handlers who have done the same. I don't know a single drone operator who has found a deer behind a dog. Plus, like I said earlier, what is a drone going to do when it finds a live deer with a mortal wound? In SE LA, there will likely be nothing but bones left if they let the deer lay overnight.

You obviously have not watched the drone videos from the Ukraine where they are dropping grenades on Russian soldiers.

My son has used his to find someone’s deer by using the thermal feature. Works great on a cloudy day or right after nightfall once the tree’s lose their heat image.

On a clear day, from 300 feet up, you can zoom in and see the deer and racks in detail. It’s a great tool.

Both tools have their places. A good dog will have better rate than a drone until tech improves
