Been seeing and hearing a Coopers so I'm sure it's been scoping out the nest the whistlers have at the edge of the lake. Trapped a coon this weekend that was hanging out and relocated it before it feasted on duck eggs.

It can be an adventure releasing a pissed off racoon from a live catch trap that only has the spring loaded trap door, no rear door that lifts up.

When was the last time teal season was only 9 days?
I’m 34 and I can’t recall.
It’s past time LDWF makes Mexican squealers legal during teal season.
Hunters struggle to kill them during big duck season bc like BWT, they leave with the early fronts. Like others said, they get smart just like other ducks once they get shot at. So you have opening weekend and maybe the following before they leave to go further south or get smart.

BW teal head on to points southward like Central and South America; BBWD's do not leave the state of Louisiana during the season, they're here the whole time......banding and telemetry data tells us.

Some clubs in SW La, though, kill the absolute fr*ck out of BBWDs all season long, particularly the clubs hunting fresh marsh below Lake Arthur/Gueydan, etc.

I remember it in the 90s. And the limit was four teal during teal season forever. You guys got spoiled

You would be shooting some birds that just learned to fly. Also most of them are here the entire season they just go nocturnal and hang out by grain bins by the thousands

Still a little early but anyone seeing any teal around? Heading to the lease in Gueydan next weekend to check status of some of the blinds for repairs and assess brushing needs. Last year sucked but always get hopeful as the season gets closer
