Its finally time to introduce the SO to fishing. I generally fish for specs and reds in the marsh but waking her up at 330 to drive to the coast would not be fun for anyone.

I live in Baton Rouge, can anyone suggest any good places around here. I am just looking for something with some action to keep her entertained. A nearby restaurant on the water would be a plus. After reading the lake verret thread I was thinking maybe catfish or bream out of Pierre part. Any OB guidance is greatly appreciated. TIA

Lake Verrett would be a good choice when they are biting. Last I heard the bass were biting in the lake around the cypress trees, but haven't heard many bream or catfish reports. You definitely don't want to take your SO out there when they're not biting, especially in the summer. She'll never want to go back.

...then again, maybe you do want to take her when they aren't biting.

Dont call her the SO unless you know she fishes.

If you want her to enjoy herslef and come again, bring plenty of water and some TP on the boat. fish until she is ready to quit then quit. go after cats or bream and use live bait. Teach her what to do but encourage her to bait her won hooks. Do not let her get finned by a cat tryign to get it off the hook.

bonus bring a small pillow and a beach towel so she can sunbathe when she gets tired of fishing.

edited to shake my head at my own typos but I am too lazy to correct them.

I only see 2 possible outcomes. Both being good. Either she likes it and wants to go more often, making it possible for me to go more often. Or she hates it and will never ask me to go again.

This is why I don't want to drive to the marsh. I know I will get caught up fishing and never want to leave.

1.5 hrs to Cocodrie, and alot easier to fish the marsh for a chick than freshwater fishing. Larsh under a cork FTW.

You are forgeting one, she dosent like it and yall dont catch any leading her to believe you would rather spend time floating around in boat "not doing anything really" instead of be with her. (which may very well be true)

We generally bribe strippers to go out with us. All it takes is hiring a babysitter for their kids, promising some quiet time so they can study for the bar, and of course, lots and lots of designer drug tablets & a little coke.

If you're gonna go freshwater, fish for bream with nightcrawlers or crickets. I've heard good things about bayou black lately, and in another couple weeks after the river drops more the Atchafalaya spillway should be on fire.

Fishing/hunting is the time away from crazy SO's. You are opening up a can of shite doing this. YOur only alone time will be forever ruined if she enjoys it.

Funny how one word changes the entire sentence.
