Here's a few pics of a friend of mine from PA named Mike Lapp who came down to hunt with me this week. Mike is the most decorated custom call maker in the history of the NWTF Grand National Call Making Competition but has only hunted Eastern's in his time turkey hunting.

I brought Mike down last year and due to some nasty weather we couldn't seal the deal. This year we had 2 great days and Mike tagged two fine Osceola gobblers.

Here's Mike's first Osceola, I'll have pics of the 2nd tom later.

18 lbs 1"+ spurs and an 11" beard. Called up with a Clint Corder double slate and a Lapp trough caller.

I've given 6 turkeys a ride in the truck this year. 3 of my own and 3 more harvested by friends. I've still got time in Tennessee and Oklahoma to go. It's been a very good year thus far..

Congrats! You have had a good year indeed!
Word in SC is that the Osceola season in FL was over before it started. My attorney had a trip canceled, and another friend was down there and the guide service gave them extra days because it was so bad.

You must be the man! (or you have a honey hole!)

This will be my first time visting a new area. The ranch I'm hunting is located in Arnett, OK. I guess that would be western OK near the panhandle.

Give us a report on how you like the area and the facilities when you get back and how the hunting is

I believe this to be true. I know several very good turkey hunters that have come up empty in FL this year. Things really deteriorated after opening week. With the abnormally warm and dry conditions this Winter things here are way off of usual patterns. We saw strutters in early February and a Biologist I spoke to who manages one of the WMA's in Ocala indicated that there have been reports of poults being seen already. Normally, it is absolutely prime time in Central Florida and to be honest there are few gobbles to be heard. Bachelor groups are starting to form back already. Hens are on the nest and the toms aren't even paying much attention to them.

A large part of my success this year has been sheer luck, lots of scouting and the good fortune of having several places to hunt.
