Anything remotely similar to this in Louisiana?
I think KR tried a local group, but don't remember which one it was.
I think he said he took a handgun class. KR's well qualified to tell you if the training program//staff was good or not. If he says the handgun class was GTG, you can be pretty confident that all their other classes (carbine, shotgun) are good.

And there were two AKs with severe issues.
Know if they were pieced together like converted Saigas or if they were WASRs or Arsenal?

Were there any women in the class? I plan on enrolling in the class and my SO(5'2 105lbs) has expressed interest as well. I am hoping she can handle it physically w/ a Colt AR and a ruger sr9c. I plan on using my Arsenal AK and a glock 23.

I (truly) think it's great that you went. Very few gun owners actually go to one. So you're to be commended for going.
Thank you. I definitely think it was very valuable training that any carbine owner would find very fun and very beneficial.

I don't know my AK nomenclature very well but they were bottom of the barrel from what my friend said. Cheap Romanian surplus rifles maybe? I'll look into that.
But they had a lot of magazine issues (mostly failures to feed and rounds popping out over the operating rod). There was one guy that had a case jam in the top cover towards the back and was there for almost a day. He would get the occasional failure to feed and didn't know why.

My handloads are 23.2 per round. But it did take me weeks to do so many.

There was actually one woman in the class. She was there with her husband. She was also probably that same body size.
She started off with an AK (47 variety) and it was absolutely beating the hell out of her. She had a huge bruise on her shoulder and winced for every single shot.
When her husband changed her to his SBR AR, she started shooting much better, which makes sense since the gun was considerably lighter and didn't recoil as hard. I don't know why he didn't start her on that from the beginning.
She also was running a Glock 23 (? the compact 9mm version; unsure of number), which is about the same size as the SR9c. I think y'all would both do well and have a blast.
