Have a pond ,discussed with wildlife and fisheries . Which bass should I use? Choices Florida strain , Northern, or Hybrid were the choices given. Anyone with experience or opinions?

My dad stocked his 1 acre pond with florida bass, cats and bream. We pulling out 5-6 lb cats. He laid down gravel in the shallow areas for the bass to breed.

I'm like Bill Dance with the bass...catch and release. Lots of fun.

Good luck.

Florida F-1 are fantastic game fish. I have watched 5 lbers jump clear out of the water feeding on shad.

Florida grow quick, but I understand they can tougher to catch.

They also eat everything in sight to grow that fast. For a small pond I would go with northern or hybrid. Imho

Tiger Bass

Cross breed between a Florida & Northern. Grow real fast and super aggressive.

Agreed! So much fun to catch. 3 years in and we are regularly catching 3.5-5.5 pounders. But those little guys are so aggressive that I love catching the 1.5-2 pounders.

This. And, I believe it is the Florida Bass with a particular strain of Northern Bass that make them a little more territorial. Many years ago, we went to American sport fish where they create these guys. Very interesting.
