I have a 5 acre pond in South Alabama, which I want to stock for the spring and summer to fish in. When is the best time to stock and what fish? I'd like bass and brim. Where do I go to get fish and what quantity? etc?
Thanks for any advice!

Dunn’s fish farm or Pond stockers can give you all the info. They will deliver if I remember correctly. They go all over the south.

Stock brim first then wait 6-9 months then put in bass.

I think Mississippi’s Pond Management manual is a good as any available as to answering most of the questions you have LINK
Of course Auburn University’s website on managing small ponds/lakes is also excellent. Virtually all the recommendations on managing small impoundments in the Southeast were developed by Dr Homer Swingle of Auburn in the 40s/50s and refined over the years. Here is a link to various topics including a list of fish suppliers in AL. LINK Consider contacting a county extension agent for whatever county in AL your pond is located for further information and assistance.
Dunn’s in Mississippi as already mentioned is also a good source of recreational fish fingerlings.
In a nutshell, now (Nov/Dec/Jan) is a good time to stock bluegill/redear sunfish (“bream”), largemouth bass are typically stocked in May/June, several + months after stocking “bream”.

5 acres...i would do a few hundred crappie and something for a baitfish that wouldn’t eat the crappie fry.
But I love crappie.
