Just for the record, I make fun of EVERYONE who names deer.

We've got a buck named on our land in Alabama. He has been hanging around the camp house since he was a fawn, and he's a 10 point now. A couple of years ago my uncle tranquilized him and put a cow tag in his ear so no one would shoot him. His name is Biscuit because he loves to eat dog biscuits.

YouTube video is out

Tyler mentions “we” have been watching this deer grow for three years, sounded like he may have a stake in Honey Break.

If not I guess they let him kill their biggest deer for marketing two out of three years.

Hell of a Louisiana deer either way.

I read the LA sportsman’s write up.
He said “we ran to academy to get a ground blind”
It’s sad but i immediately thought that academy probably chipped in a couple grand for that plug lol

Yep - The product placement was blatant including his Bushnell scope and cap.

The video was very anticlimactic. You would think with such a deer and the planning behind killing that deer they could have made a better video.

SeekOne just made a 2 hour movie about killing a deer

That’s a beautiful deer.
I showed it to Junya and he agreed with me that harvesting 140s off of our family property is a more satisfying experience.
That said, congratulations to the men at HB for cultivating that monster.

These days, wouldn't be surprised if pen raised genetic bucks make up the majority of state records....

Yep. The new potential Florida record was killed recently. The timing of Hurricane Michael times up with this one. It may be legit but it could also be an escapee from around Michael. 180s don’t grow on trees around here.

Can’t speak for other states, but I’ve never understood who would pay thousands of dollars for a pen deer and then turn it out into a free range situation.

HB is unique in that it has the acres others don’t. When you start looking at private landowners, who has enough land to do something like that and feel assured that the deer won’t cross a property line.

I can see a potential financial gain if a hunting club/private investment property had that in their portfolio, but private/family owned land, I can’t see where the financial benefit comes from.

Look at any hunting land listing and you’ll have your answer. However, I’d reckon there could be a trade made on these high dollar clubs: seed buck for a few hunts, etc.

It’s hard to believe (one would undertake such measures)but people are completely slap dick retarded over “hunting”.

For sure, but none who would purchase deer and turn them into the wild on the chance of killing them in a free range situation.

Most of those folks gained that stupid money by not being stupid with it.

I don’t think they are trying to kill the specific one they turn loose but trying to let it breed as many does as possible and spread its seed so there are more like it in their place if I had to guess.
