Lake Claiborne has a very nice state park with a beach. Cabins are nice, have satellite TV if you want to relax in the ac, hiking and biking trails, and you'll see lots of deer early and late. We just left there, and saw lots of pets.

4 dots = 4 fish. Yes, more the better. If you were to select a certain day, it'll give you peak feeding times and minor feeding times.

ETA: I think it has some merit. At least in Henderson, it follows it fairly close.

It's not a state park, but Grand Bayou Resort near Coushatta has some nice cabins on the lake.

You do any saltwater fishing? We went to Cypemort state park today and I didn't realize they had cabins. From the outside they looked real nice and each cabin has it's own slip with Shark Bayou about 100 yards away. Took me 45 minutes to get there from the west side of Lafayette.

They are nice. Must book well in advance. Also, make sure you pet the gators on the banks of Shark Bayou. You can't go there and not pet the gators.

Well it's too late for that anyway. We just reserved a cabin in D'arbonne.

And I mean literally just did it a couple minutes ago

Didn't see any today, water was super dirty and very fresh. We didn't catch a thing and it seems that was the trend. I'll have to look into the cabins though since it's so close to home. I'd love to learn the area to atleast have semi-productive trips.

A buddy of mine from work goes to Cypremort point often. His family has a camp down there. He said I can go with him any time. Just waiting for our schedules to synch up.

We rode around after picking up the yaks, there's some VERY nice camps there. Talking to people it seems that it picks up in late summer through the fall and it'll definitely be a place I'll start frequenting.

So I suggested that we just get a cabin in a state park. She thought that was a great idea. So the only two places I could think of was Chicot or Palmetto. It obviously has to be family/kid friendly, but I want good fishing as well. Any other places you guys might suggest?

now sure how far you want to drive, but my suggestion would be a private lake in Mississippi called Lake Tiak O'Khata...it has cabins on site as well as boats to rent...pretty damn good resturant there too...

it is nothing fancy, but is one of the most relaxing places I know of...

That place looks pretty nice!

I'm gonna bookmark that for later. When my son gets older, that would be a great place to take him!
