Saskwatch,

Thanks, that was the price for the lamson spare spool. They had the guru on sale for awhile at a great price but that behemoth will do the same thing.

Lamson makes a good quality reel. If OP can find one for a good discount then that's a good choice. Will be lighter than the Behemoth.

I’ve been throwing a TFO BVK rod for over a year. Read up on them and most will agree it’s best in its price class and fishes like much more expensive rods. I’ve probably caught 60-70 redfish on it without any issues.

I went a little more expensive on reel because of the drag and quality since I’m not very easy on my gear. It’s been worth the price so far. Was running Cortland Guide Fly line but it melted on the motor muffler so I had to buy some Orvis line in a pinch. No reviews on the Orvis yet.

Here’s my setup

It’s the crab not the flea

so, I started fly fishing as a kid but on a rod that my dad had. It was very old and glass. Was not a good rod.

I got into it a little more and decided I was going to buy my own rod. I wanted one rod that would "do everything"

Ended up buying an Orvis 8' 3" 7ft that they advertised as their "do everything rod".
it does everything, but nothing well.

I ended up really getting into fly fish big time.
So be warned it is very addictive and is a blast.

I now own 18 or 19 fly rods most of which I built with components. Everything from St Croix to G Loomis and Sage.
