colts are improving again, a few years ago people were paying 1k for a colt because it said colt, now the same exact 1911 is called MetroArms and you can get it for 600.

what are you looking to spend and what features do you want, i can point you in the right direction

I'm going to ask the obligatory, what is the best bang for the buck 1911? If you had to narrow it down price/performance.

Wasn't looking to spend anything. A friend has that gun and wants to get rid of it because he now has 2 other 1911's... y'all would probably get along.

Anyway, he was telling me he would give me a deal before he went elsewhere since I didn't have one and showed some interest in his collection.

He's just wanting to move it since it's entry level like you said I guess.

I don't have to buy it, but I am interested.

I'm not following your statement about Colt and Metro Arms...

I really know next to nothing about 1911's. I have decided that will be my next gun purchase so I guess I am just starting my education. Where should I start? When I buy it will likely be in the 800 - 1k range.

colt sold their facility to metro arms with all machines intact, metro arms is now making the american classic model 1911 on colt's old machines. colt has now moved their manufacturing of 1911's back to the states

My uncle had a colt government with stag grips that was my grandpas, similar to the one in my avatar. That thing was so awesome, until someone broke into his house and nought they needed it more than he did. So that's kind of my "dream" 1911 for sentimental purposes.

save money and get the ruger sr 1911 for 699, or spend more money and get a kimber or a dan wesson
