Use WeedFreeZone on clover. I believe it is safe for all grasses and takes that shite out good if applied correctly and adequately

If you live in the Southeast and your yard does not look much different from your neighbors, you probably have centipede or st augustine. They look and have similar care needs.

I need a chart with the pH the weeds prefer so I can figure out what to put on my lawn to change the pH to be optimum for the grass. My yard is so messed up.

Find out what pH your grass needs to be healthy so it can out-compete the weeds

What kind of weed is this? Will it die when it starts to be 90 degrees everyday?

Looks like annual bluegrass aka poa annua. It will eventually die out when it warms up, but I would hit it with some type of atrazine after this next storm. The main thing with this weed is that the seeds in the tips will germinate next August-October. This is when you need to apply a pre emergent such as weed and feed. Good luck. That shite will take over a yard quick, but at least it isn't the worst looking weed.

Do I need to mow then apply the atrazine?

I always use at least a 2 & 2 method. I don't mow 2 days prior, or after, a pesticide application.

It doesn't matter. I don't because the broadleaf weeds have a larger contact area.

I wanted to roundup and kill this winter grass in my yard and start over with some seeded centepede.

When is too late to burn it down?
I have 4 pallets of grass already laid that has shite coming up through it now and it's starting to show signs if green now.

I know can spray the non centipede anytime.. I just don't want to kill the sod.

Very informative thread. A couple of questions-are these various products available at Lowes/Home Depot or do I need to hit Ace, Clegg's, feed store???

The home I recently bought appears to have not been sodded (or cared for at all) so the yard is crap. Spongy, poor draining, and nearly every weed pictured is represented. Do I scalp it and sod it? Will dethatching help with the spongy effect? I've been lucky over the years and had well established, mostly St. Aug yards, I'm not used to dealing with this myriad of wrong.

how long has the sod been laid? I would hold off on spraying it for now. just consider this year a loss. check it mid/late summer and then hit it hard with weed and feed. you could put some out in july then another round in October. hard to really give you the best advice without seeing what it is you are dealing with.

every yard looks like that this year because we received a ton of rain. weeds love that shite. you can get good products at any of the stores you listed. I would kill the weeds first and let the centipede come out of its dormant phase and then fertilize it hard, water it during the summer and leave it high when cutting to develop a strong root foundation. if you are still unhappy with it after this summer I would scalp and resod. like I have stated plenty of times, the key to a yard with less weeds is stopping germination after summer and spot treating early the next year imo. that's the most overlooked step with yards because most people are in that I don't fricking care mode and are tired of yardwork at that point.

Good advice. I am a complete novice to lawn care-I've been spoiled all my life, so any and all help is appreciated!

I laid the sod in October... It's around the edges of my house.

I have another 2-2.5 acres I gotta get under control.

I ended up digging up a 3x2' section to get rid of dolisgrass last year bc I couldn't kill it.

It's back.
