you've spent the time on a cedar slab table why wouldn't you go with cedar stump type legs...

i thought about this for sure, but as i was saying earlier, mainly just for ease to go with a bolt on option. plus, my general rule is all work stops at camp labor day weekend, and i wanted to get it done. you're way would def look good no doubt

Make sure that slab is dry before you put epoxy in the holes and poly it.

to be honest i didn't epoxy the bad spots, just painted them good with poly. id be lying if i said how long that had been cut and drying bc i don't know, but its definitely not green. will be on interior, so i hope bugs are not an issue for me

I'd love to get a slab of Cypress like that. If you or anyone knows where I can get one

i get this here in arkansas. with just a very short search i found a few places for cedar, cypress, and others. honestly i wasn't real particular, just went with what was closest and most cost effective. naturally, id be glad to help you, but as others have mentioned, I'm sure theres a ton of options for you a heck of a lot closer. male no mistake though, if you can't find one, I'm certain we could find you one up here

ok... first coat of poly is on and I'm very happy with how it looks. there was very very few bubbles, so i think coats 2 and 3 will be really nice. I'm glad i chose this route, as i am very happy with the color, how it looks, etc. I was nervous about the application, however, I'm confident now that i can pull it off to exceed my expectations

actually, just came over to post up finished pics. put a second coat of poly on and was so happy about how it turned out i called it good. initially was going to do 3 coats, but 2 looks great to me. Legs came in over the weekend, so i got them put on and finished yesterday. Although some folks weren't that crazy about the hairpin legs, I'm actually pretty happy with them, and pleased about how it ended up. Ultimately, it doesn't really matter a whole lot, as its going to my camp anyhow. Overall, I'm very pleased, and already thinking about another one to go in my house. pic heavy... enjoy.

That looks really good!
Think I’m gonna drag some cedar to the sawmill and put some together for the camp.
Thanks for the idea!

If you make another, I highly recommend getting a moisture meter from amazon. Most of these small time guys cutting slabs don’t dry them. They sell them as fast as they can saw them. If that slab isn’t dry, it will warp and twist like a potato chip. Great job though

good idea, ill definitely do that. I think we even have one here at work. on that one, although i hope it doesn't, its ok if it does, i think it will be fine for its intended purpose, and for the first one, with little to no knowledge, it was a good learning experience
