Any updates on the area. Maybe we could use this thread throughout the season.
Headed up to hunt sun-tues. My good deer disappeared from cam last week. Still have a few small bucks and does comin in during day time.

Been kinda slow at our place. Same few does and small bucks that are regulars around certain stands. Big boys are sticking to thick cover and barely moving except to feed on acorns. Havent seen much movements on the highways either during mornings and evenings. Pretty typical for November. Some may remember me saying this but a few years ago I made 21 hunts in a row without seeing a deer. That was through November into second week of December

A few big deer were killed in southwest Wilkinson Co over the weekend.

Deer were making scrapes like crazy this weekend. Almost ever hanging branch on a rad has dirt worked under it. Had cameras set up on spots where they scrape every year / licking branches. Was mostly does and very young bucks with one 3 yr old 8 pt showing up.

Thanks for the update FTF. I checked my cameras last friday. Most of our 3.5+ bucks went nocturnal after muzzleloader week / opening weekend. I had a small racked 200lb 4.5-5.5 year old 8 pt come in feeding on Thanksgiving Friday morning and stayed for half an hour. Going back tomorrow to check cams again. Will update. This weather has to get them going. Gonna make a couple hunts the next 2 days.

I suck at aging deer but I agree. That deer is without a doubt in my opinion 5+

On our lease In Ascension parish the bucks are just starting to stain their hocks with urine. This cold weather should push them into a full rut in another week.

Date and Time says it all. Saturday morning. Came in at 930, left at 1020. He’s been nocturnal most days.

Saturday at 10:30. I was on another stand and sat till noon and only saw a small 6 cleaning out scrapes

Zoomed in. Mouth wide open as he pushed this doe around checking her out

Sat another stand Monday morning and saw 7 does. Only the last one had a small spike pushing her. She lost him in some CRP and snuck off

FTF, you missed out on a good one there. The hot does in the coming weeks should keep him bouncing around.
