Spartan Cameras

I'm coming up on the third year of having my four Spartan GoCams 4G.
I started with two and now have four buying an additional camera every few months.
They come with two year warranties and have great customer support. with that $300/ea price tag if you get them on sale.
Recently, instead of purchasing a new camera, I've shifted my feeders to only gravity and bought the 25% off solar/battery accesories for two of them and I couldnt be happier. The 12v battery paired with the solar panel will last as long as the battery does (like a car battery, but much smaller so it should last 1 year) and turned my settings all the way up for better and more frequent pics.
These cameras have been moved but NEVER brought inside. They are absolute beasts....the only complaint i've ever had has been having to change out the Duracell batteries every month or 45 days.
I've recommended them as an investment in several camera threads, but I'll do it again.....If you dont need 5-10 cell cameras from the jump, consider investing in the Spartan Camera systems. They are tough and reliable.
This is not a paid advertisement lol

No experience with the Spartans and I’m sure they’re worth the money for the customer service, but I’ve had the same results from tactacams with two things; using the recommended SD cards and putting together external battery boxes using herd360 cables/solar panels.
I run “timely” send over gravity feeders with high deer density, so thousands of pics a week, and a 7ah external will last a couple months. I keep a couple extra batteries charged and just swap them every other time I fill the feeder. The two with solar panels are on open plots and never need to get touched, but I probably wouldn’t have even gone that route in hindsight, I’m gonna be at the feeder to fill it up at some point and it’s just overkill.

Love mine. Had two go completely under water with the river floods, and while they are sealed, I guess some water seeped into the housing, and they exchanged them both quickly. I will prob look into the solar add ons. They can certainly eat some batteries, particularly non lithiums.

Anything that takes a task away isnt overkill to me...I dont have the time as it is...if I lived out there, that wouldnt be an issue but I'm two hours away with an angry wife when i go

has to be Duracell lol
but the solar and external change all that

The Duracells just absolutely suck

Thanks I will be in the market for some nice cams within the next 2 weeks. Will keep this in mind…… any recommendations for a few decent cheap trail cams under $50? Goal is to have a few cheaper cams throughout my property and 2 nice cellular cams where the main plot will be. ( 25 acres)

Spartans are more expensive but from top to bottom including the cellular service they are the best money can buy.

for non-cell: we've had hand-me-down Moultre cams tied to trees for years...they work fine
Spart does make some great non-cells that go on sale for 89 sometimes

I’ve only used wise eye cell cams. They have been great in a really bad cell coverage area. It’s only been one season so far but I will definitely be adding to the 3 I have now. 1 of them survived getting chewed on by a bear. I am a big fan. Their customer service has been top notch. Hopefully they hold up. I’m going to leave them up through turkey season and then shut them down for a bit. Whichever camera you decide I recommend using an external 12v battery.

I've heard good things about Wise Eye..that would be my second choice as I like the fact that they are a smaller company and they give a shite

I think one of the owners or reps for wise Eye posts here.

The Spartans are made by their parent co HCO, which also make the Jager Pro ICE Cameras. And yes they are great cams. The only difference in the cameras is the Jager Pro ICE can take a photo on command. Spartan may have updated theirs to do the same. I’m a dealer for JP and they advise to only use the ultimate lithium AA batteries. I’ve seen alkaline batteries overheat and fry the cameras. The 6v rechargeable in a waterproof battery box for around $60 is the most cost effective and efficient (fewer visits to the camera) way to go IMO.

Did you charge the 12 volt before hooking it up the initial time? Mine didn’t come with a charger

We are a customer centric company. Thx for the kind words.
New features coming that we can wirelessly add to the Mini cams. Look for some emails about it.

I only use 12v on every cam.
I use either the ML12-12 By might max or a lawnmower battery with 230CCA.
Plus a $10 wire.
Yes I use a smart charger from Amazon by NOCO. They cost $30
Get battery, charge it. Connect to camera and off you go. Should last 6-16 months depending on temps, signal and activity.
