I have become skeptical of him lately. Some of the late night threads he starts are something else

He’s got a jewel of a hunting club if he’s actually this close to killing turkeys so often, considering he sounds like he can’t find his arse with both hands.

I’ll come try, hit me up. Choquette303@gmail.com

Finally closed the deal today as it was the first time I’ve heard them gobble on my lease.

In reference to 30 pound deal, since I have never killed one I have no ducking idea that’s what the local farmer that’s family has lived there for 100s of years says. It the beast or island beast, and all I can say is it’s the biggest damn turkey I have seen live or on TV. Turkeys around here are huge since they all die of old age, and known for having multiple beards and other wierd shite

Dude. Just stop. You have no idea wtf you are talking about. Go fishing. I'm happy turkey hunting excites you. I wish you the best. Just stop watching motherfrickin #spurseason2020 and #headzfloppin television shows and get someone who is a real turkey killer to teach you some things.

80% of turkeys die before they hatch, and another 80% of the ones that hatch don't make it to a year. Whole lot of bad stuff can happen to a turkey before it gets to die of old age. Based on what you've said about the folks you've been talking to and taking hunting, you are taking advice from a bunch of idiots. There are some people on this board who are turkey killers that have been trying to give you advice for a month. Just chill out and go fishing.

Look back at the first post. “Bunch of dominant birds”. I think OP got psyched out by these birds from the get go. It happens. Confidence is the key in any outdoor pursuit.

I get my five birds every year in Alabama. And I'm frickin wore out at the end of it too. I'm not a very good caller either just patience and woodsmanship mostly

Turkeys are very dumb animals. But they do have an excellent ability to detect movement. Do not over think it. Turkeys pretty much wake up in a new world everyday. They do not learn from past experiences like say a deer. A couple of years ago I was in the truck with a seed rep during turkey season and he was talking about how smart turkeys were. There happened to be about 7 turkeys in the field we were riding in. I drove the truck right towards the turkeys stopped short and started chasing them on foot until they ran into the woods. Went back to the truck and retrieved my shotgun and a mouth call and put on a camo windbreaker but was also wearing blue jeans. Walked into the woods and set up and started calling and in less than 20 minutes had called in and shot a gobler that ended up having a 9” beard. The seed guy who stood outside the truck the whole time was like WTF?

Yeah they are definitely in my head. What I learned this year from this location.

These turkeys don’t like to be called. They will gobble to a yelp but not come because as I watched a dozen or more more hens for 10 hours straight Sunday I was reminded that in 2 years hunting this spot I have only heard a native turkey yelp once. At the end like run when you yelp.

I am blind in one eye and seeing them is very difficult for me. I have been a deer hunter since I little boy so I am working hard to pattern this birds and I did that well, but it really didn’t help until last few days when I gave up on calling. They way this camp is most all roads are elevated, and the ground is covered with sticks. It’s very difficult to move without being seen or heard ever, even by old time woodsman. My hunting buddies have lived here for way over 60 years a piece and families for hundreds of years and they didn’t do any better.

I hunted 7 days 5 am set up to dark, no break, and 4 or 5 with a lunch break only. I could not have tried harder. I have never had to hunt deer that hard, or anything else.

The only real success I had was deer hunting them, I should have taken shots on both final days. But what kind of fun is that? I am done with these birds, life is too short. You want to try, email me next year and you can “ show me” how to do it correctly as my guest or join the growing list of experienced turkey hunters that have been beat by these hell birds. Maybe it’s all the predators, maybe being hunting by the Indians and pioneers for hundreds of years or just some kind of curse but I am over this shite.

Then What’s your email?

If you think it’s predators, start trapping.

I picked up some traps this year, watched YouTube videos , and have had some success with yotes, bobcats, and coons in the same sets.

So you put 100+ hours into chasing these birds and had a chance to shoot and didn't?

Yeah he was looking right at me and I didn’t think I would get it off clean. We need a trapper in the club. We thought we had one this year
