I feel that my right arm is dominant so I want it in the control position as in holding the forearm of a rifle thus controlling the swing or holding a bow and controlling the aim.
Couldn't agree more! When I do switch over and shoot right handed, I feel I have to pay more attention to the seemingly "unnatural" movement of my left arm controlling the swing...because I do everything else right handed.

I'm left eye dominant but right handed. I shoot long guns and bows from the left. I shoot handguns with my right hand.
When I was in high school I went shooting w/ my best friend and his girl friend. We were shooting 22 pistols. His gf shot well, but there was something odd about her shooting. We finally figured it out......She was shooting right handed, but was aiming w/ the left eye. As was pointed out earlier, it not which hand one's dominant w/ that determines which side one shoots from, but which eye is dominant. And, yes, it's a subconscious thing. Before most kids ever shoot a real gun, they've already had years of handling toy guns so that it's already been determined which side they naturally shoot from. There are some successful shooters who shoot well w/ their non-dominant eye, but it's difficult to do consistently.

I am right handed and right eye dominant but, I am actually more comfortable shooting a rifle/shotgun left handed. I had to teach myself to shoot correctly on my right side.
I have no idea how it happened to me either.

Another thing.....when I shoot left handed, regardless if it is a scope or shot gun, I always have both eyes open. But when I shoot right handed, I absolutely have to close my left eye because it is my dominate eye and I cant focus with my right over my left when it is open.

I do this too. The way I've set the iron sights on my handguns is absolutely useless for anyone but myself.

This is me.
Left eye dominate is my guess. I also can't wink my left eye without my right eyelid squinching in too, but I can close my right w/o affecting my left at all.
I also have a jacked up left shoulder, so I have better range of motion with my right arm holding the gun.
I've always been more accurate shooting lefty. I shoot pool as a switch hitter, and hit switch in baseball too but I'm predominantly right handed in everything and it's not even close. I just taught myself to bat switch to frick with pitchers, and to give us some lefty hitters to switch up the flow.
