Some single action revolver trivia

It is possible to fire a Colt Single Action Army when every internal action part is broken. This is true for many of its clones also.
Every spring, the bolt, and the trigger can all be broken and the gun can be made to fire manually if the firing pin is intact (technically you don’t even need a trigger in an SAA to use it). Pull the hammer back, rotate the cylinder by hand until the primer is centered in the firing pin bushing hole. Next slowly lower the hammer all the way while holding the cylinder in place. Hit the back of the hammer with a piece of wood or something and the gun will shoot. I’m not aware of another cartridge gun where this is possible.
Not recommending you do it, but if you are in a shootout with Pancho Villa 7 it might come in handy. Always carry these traditional single actions and old Rugers with an empty chamber under the hammer.

My FIL used to have 3 old Bisleys. Those were some really neat old guns.
I got the history of one of them from Colt.
Was sold in St Louis back at the turn of the century. Had a couple of nicks in the handle.

If all I've got is a broken pistol and a block of wood, I'll be using my negotiation skills and/or going into escape and evade mode.

You could take an AR15 Upper, not a firearm, and shoot rounds off with a punch placed on the firing pin and a hammer.
Yet the lower is the "firearm".
ETA if you try this make sure to remove the gas tube
ETA2..your method with the SA colt would likely also work with the Star B pistols. And we all know it works with the Sig P320s.

Good info! My knowledge of ‘modern’ pistols is limited.
