Heard that a water snake bite can give you gangrene?

So can a Bourbon Street hooer.

The things I've always hated about your standard water snakes are:

1 - when running trot lines at night and them falling down on top of me trying to get at my flashlight in the boat.

2 - not being able to tell if it's a watersnake or a moccasin at night, in the boat, after it's just fallen on your head outta the cypress tree.

3 - having a watersnake come cuddle with me in my fart sack while copping some Zs down by the riverbank in the fall. People think watersnakes hibernate in cold weather. They don't, not really. They just slow down.

4 - getting a $5 casting bait hung up in a bush full of watersnakes and having to go in after my bait alongside the riverbank with a fast current pulling at my boat.

Right. Snakes don’t hibernate, they brumate. They’ll burrow up when it’s cold and come out to eat on warmer days, then go back in if it gets cold again.

Water snake - not venomous but if it is like most of its relatives calling it harmless is not accurate either. They will draw blood

Thank you!

When did drawing a few drops of blood become “harmful”? Is sewing dangerous now because you might prick yourself and draw a little blood? Jesus H. Christ… like I said - the pussification of America. A snake bite hurts less than a bee sting. And a bee sting isn’t harm - it’s a minor inconvenience.

I appreciate your efforts to depussify me and the rest of us.

Bees and wasp don’t scare me. Probably because I see them plenty.

The shoulderless guys, not so much, so they’re just more scary to me. Especially if they resemble the infamous moccasin. I’m trying though.

Information wins. Keep trying!!

You just need to get bit once to realize that it’s absolutely nothing to be worried about.

Maybe to you, but not to me. Honeybee sting swells me up like a puffer fish. I don't like skeeters and ticks bitin on me, either. As for all these legless reptiles, if the Good Lord had wanted us to pick them up, he would have put a handle on them. But he didn't. You do you. I'm like the other poster. I'll just go pick or listen to some good bluegrass or old time music.
