Silencerco has put out an EasyTrust form to help people try to obtain suppressors a little easier. It is priced at $129. I'm not sure of all the specifics, but I figured I would share. Sorry if it has already been posted.

Silencerco Trust

For those who already have a trust, how much did it cost you to get it set up?

There's a great lawyer here in Virginia that will do it for $100 - and any questions or changes that you have later on are included in that $100!

Under $400 and the attorney I used makes himself available for any future questions or modifications to the trust at no additional cost. Also, local attorneys are familiar with local laws and write a trust for the state rather than some cookie cutter trust.

You spend $1000 on a suppressor and try to save $150 on the trust? Not worth it to me

To get the paperwork back from silencerco? About 5 minutes.
You then need a notary and two witnesses.

In TN you do not have to do anything else with it until you submit the paperwork to the ATF

When you ask how long it took to go through, I'm not sure if you're referring to setting up the trust or my tax stamps. So...

I called the attorney and a few minutes after we got off the phone, he emailed me a form to fill out. The trust papers were emailed to me less than a day after I sent the info back to him.

The tax stamps were a different matter however! Right around five weeks for a Form 1 and a little over four months for a Form 4.

What are the pros and cons of a doing a trust and an individual purchase? Am I correct in thinking that a trust will save me time and money if I decide to get more class 3 purchases as well as be able to leave these items to someone?

Don't have to fingerprint, photograph yourself, or get LEO permission. Can legally give your suppressor to other people to use/store by adding them to the trust.

That's what I was wondering. I was always concerned with who would get these items should something happen to me.

save time YES
Save money NO

Getting the LEO signature, finger prints and photo can add a month or longer to getting approval. Also, if you get an SBR and have a trust you can file a form 1 and to get approval for a form 1 is taking about a month.

Thanks. The extra cost doesn't really concern me if it allows me to purchase more without having to do as much of the process.
