Nah, at least not to law enforment agencies. I think the H&K ME model goes for less that $2k.

For the general public, yes. They are that expensive due to supply and demand.

I have the felling this has nothing to do with the price.

Its prolly more the fact that the weapons are full auto and the Sheriff has to sign off on it.

In Jefferson and St, Tammany thats how it works for silencers i believe and neither Sheriff in those areas will sign off on it for anybody.

The way I heard it was that the guns were on loan to the DA's office therefore since no actual "purchase" was made the sheriff didn't need to be notified. However, WHY THE HELL DOES THE DA NEED FULL AUTO WEAPONS?!

Same questions keep being asked but people aren't listening to what is being said.
The weapons are on loan which is why they are 50 each. Would you rather them spend that or near 1000 for each. They can be modified to semi auto. They just acquired all their weapons for what one would have cost.
Assault weapon? Any weapon can be used as such. Don't get caught up in that game.

The point was more along the lines of why does the DA need weapons in the first place?

That's retarded. They are a state agency which allows them to purchase the weapons. They were purchased from the us government, which as shady as it is, they normally only give weapons illegally south of the border. When you find a charge for a crime that you are making up let me know and I'll support you

Do they need them? Probably not but what if they do one day? What if they do more than the all knowing td gurus know, myself included?
My guess is there are investigators that do leave the excitement of fricking over poor college students for dwis or mip or anything else people hate so much on here about. If the guns are for something like that I'm ok with it. If they are there just because they can get them then that is stupid.

Heres a question for you. Why should an arm of the attorney general's office have to ask permission from the sheriff?

Seriously? For the same reason you would I suppose. Sounds like it's time for an OB civics class.

Judicial branch of govt, not executive. It would kind of be like senators getting full auto guns for their job.
