Just back down as close as you can to the dock when you're launching/retrieving. That what I always did with my jetski. 99% of the time I didn't need to get in the water at the ramp.
I still do this with my boat.
I'll try to do that next time. I don't know if I will be able to reach it from the dock at the park we go to though. I'm assuming you unhook from the wench before you back it down then? How did you get it back on the trailer without having to get in the water to wench it all the way up?

The shoes you are looking for are vibram five fingers. They are hands down the best water sport shoes that exist. I got mine to run in, but didn't really like running in them. Wore them one day offshore and, excepting cold weather, haven't worn anything else when fishing/canoeing/ anything by water.
I actually have a pair of the Fila version of these with the last 2 toes together. I forgot I even have them. I'll give them a try next time I go to see if they help. Thanks.

I have 2 pair of footwear. One pair of 8 year old Luchesse ostrich leg, one pair of white "Royal" rubber boots. I never slip at the landing. Guess which ones I wear?
Note: the Luchesses are so badass they probably wouldn't slip either.

as previously mentioned, Chacos are comfortable and practical.
They can be pricy, but come with a lifetime warranty.

Yeah, The dock has to be a low-to-the-water dock for it to work. I had a Seadoo RX (see pic below). I was able to lean forward over the front and reach the strap and hook it, then just step off onto the dock.
