What's the best treatment? You've all seen it. The yellow leaves that fall prematurely and create a hell of a mess. I've tried a bunch of stuff and haven't found anything yet that is particularly effective.

The mess mine made in my backyard made me resort to this.

Crazy to me that people still are planting crepes despite this disease being known. Until a cure or resistant variety of tree is created then I wouldn't plant one in my yard if you paid me.

I wish mine would die. I hate this fricking tree, but it provides shade to the side of my house half of the day

What kind of mess We talking about a few leaves and flowers in the grass. lol I’ll take ten crepe myrtles over the pecan tree in my yard that covers everything in pollen. Maybe I’m biased but crepe myrtles are some of the best looking trees around.

Bro, acquire yourself a pole saw, manual or manuel depending on level of lazy, and thin the crowns to allow airflow. Cut all the suckers and redundant branches out. I have 4 at each corner of my house, they looked like death when I bought the house. I went to work thinning, the bugs left and so did the black shite, yellow leaves and honey dew.

However, if you top them annually, which seems to be some brain fart dreamed up by yard guys needing work? just remove them completely. Looks like trailer trash ornamentals IMO. I won't tolerate sprouts/epicormic branches at my hacienda.

Bro, all of that is done. They are each 30 foot tall.

From the time the first bloom sets till about now they are a mess.

You got blooms EVERYWHERE, the pods from the blooms next, bark and then the leaves.

I dont have yellow leaves, I dont have bugs, but I do have a need to blow off my driveway twice a day for a month when they are doing their thing.

I had house files coming from mine. So much, that I had to blow the seeds off my patio twice a day, and had to get on a ladder and spray Talstar on the tree

Price you pay. There aint a tree made that doesnt drop something.

I recently head you can cut off the old blooms/seed pods and they will bloom a second time.
Carry on, sounds like yours are in good shape.

I love crepe myrtles. I'm also not dumb enough to plant them next to the driveway. They really are a beautiful tree when healthy
