Get in a boat blind in Saline Wma ( Dewey wills), I like long branch. Stay for the 9 am flight when they get chased out of delta. Profit.

Yes, I hunt it regularly. It is a bitch getting in, but we do pretty well. There are some islands you can hunt about 100 yards into it. I like hunting the back pond because I'm difficult I suppose. I like it because it's a 10 minute ride from my house, and easy access.

What about "The Prairie?" I'm interested in checking out this place; does it hold water in the winter?

also watch the dog round the gators. They are pretty active in the heat
I have a friend who lost one yesterday to a gator. Hog dog and naturally, his best one.

To the OP, often where there's water there's teal. Have made some great hunts for Sept teal season and they're usually very short so don't worry about the sqeeters.

Yeah, the prairie holds water during winter. We used to hunt it a lot, but it goes back to no combustible engines in Joyce. We used to just get the go devil in there. Now, you have to go up to the game warden shack and tie off. Then, you have to pirogue in. It's a bitch and a long ride. The advantage to the prairie is big ducks. We kill a lot of Grey ducks back there. I love to shoot teal, and put them in a gumbo, so I usually just hit Joyce.

Que? No boat motors? I was plan on using a canoe, anyway, but I haven't seen anything about a boat motor prohibition at Joyce except for certain areas.

There is a little bit of the prairie that you can still ride in to the right of the game warden shack but there will be 10 boats in it almost every day because people are lazy. The problem with pirogues is that it's a long way to pull them. I know people that put trolling motors in their surface drives to get in there but the water is too shallow and there are stumps everywhere! One friend broke two in the same weekend and said never again.

The easiest way to get into Joyce is to pull over the railroad tracks on the low road but the railroad company will write you a hefty ticket if they catch you. There should be a little water in it right now and that will help you move around. I got stuck in there with two people in the same pirogue last year an I had to get out of it and crawl through waist high mud for an hour to get out! Lol! Needless to say, I won't make that trip again unless everyone has their own pirogue. Joyce is usually pretty good for teal, but the down fall is that the bigger ponds fill up very quickly with people so it gets crowded in a hurry.

What's all this whining about heat and bugs?? If you're a duck hunter and there's birds down and a season open, you're out there watchin' dekes with a loaded gun. Jeez

-bring YardGuard FOGGER, and ThermaCell
-usually wear lightweight long sleeves and bring a water bottle
-unless you're hunting rice, leave dog at home

Hunts are usually quick, they're either there or they're not. As for areas, Pearl River usually has a few. Not always crazy numbers but i've never scratched there. Biloxi marsh is usually good, but you have a lot of ground to cover to find them. Up side is you have great fishing for post-hunt or while scouting. Countdown rolls on.....

I was 2 hours late for work but my boss was a big duck hunter so it was no big deal. Do you hunt any of the pot holes off of North Pass? We killed 6 mallards, 2 pintails, 3 greys and a woodie before 8 am during a miserable weather morning late in the season in a tiny little pot hole with only 6 decoys out.

I'm 27, I don't have a boat but a good buddy of mine does and we hunted a fair amount the last few years. I'm a big deer hunter and I hunt in Natchez with my dad. The dude I duck hunt with works at a hunting shop and he was my roomate for a year, that ought to let you know who I am or atleast who I hunt with.
