Looking for a scope. 200 or less. Looking at Nikon Prostaff, Leopold VX-1, or Vortex Crossfire II. All around 3-4 - 9-12 x 40. Thoughts on these or recommendations on others?

Vortex Diamondback

Get this Vortex Diamondback that's on sale for $150. It's a 50mm not a 40mm like you requested, but at that price I don't think you can beat it. I've ordered 2 already.

That's a hell of a deal. I may buy another one. 15% back in club points too if you use the Cabelas Visa

Yea vortex seems to catch some hate on here, but I really like my Diamondbacks. Haven't had to use the warranty, but the customer service has been great.

VOrtex makes good products period. Anyone who bags on them has an agenda.

I just bought the Nikon pro staff 3x9x50 today for $200 to go on a 308. It's my second one. No complaints so far

DVT,
Don't forget to check out the factory refurbished scopes at Natchez Shooters Supply. I've bought a number of new and refurbished scopes from them and been very pleased. I don't have a Vortex scope, but I bought a pair of Vortex Diamondback 12x50 binoculars last spring for prairie dog hunting. I took them on 2 pd hunts this year and also used them on numerous deer hunts this season. I've been very happy w/ them. I caught them on sale at Cabela's online for$160. Looks to have been money well spent so far.
