I'm usually in a stand at this time of the year, but a buddy of mine says the sacalait are spawning at his camp right now in the central part of LA. What baits would y'all recommend? I'd assume a darker jig like black and chartreuse. Think it's too late for shiners?

They move shallow in October. Get a few bags of Garland baby minnows in Monkey Milk. There is no better artificial bait. Next best would be Cajun Cricket.

They're not spawning, but contrary to popular belief, crappie can be caught year round. You wouldn't know it by my last three trips though.

Those Garland Slab Runners ate quickly becoming my go to bait lately. I’ve caught reds, specks, white trout, ladyfish, bluefish, barfish, bass, sacs, chincs, bluegill, goggle eye and some monster cats. When they are eating small shrimp and shad those things will get a bite when other stuff won’t.

You misspelled white perch! But yes we absolutely kill them this time of year. From now all through the winter. Love running 2 lines using shiners on Vernon lake this time a year picking up huge slabs of prime frying fish. And stop trying to fillet white perch you morons! Can't stand it

I use crappie stuff in the salt a lot. Very effective. Another fresh item that's great is the Zoom spinner bait trailer. It's like a much more active sparkle beatle.

Welp...We drank too much whiskey Friday night and didn't make it out on the water

Did talk to some friends of ours that went though. They caught 20 but he said it was miserable with the weather conditions.

Fished Saturday morning on three reliable brush piles. Two bites all morning.
