Remember when all that AWB hoopla was going on a few months ago? Well somebody on the OB had a great counter to the out-of-context "statistic" that Louisiana has the highest gun death rate in the nation.

I recall the OBer was factual and insightful, but I just can't recall the specifics. Help me out here.

Or that the rate was actually at a very low point historically even though the media was trying to make it look high?

That it's an urban issue. We know darn good and well that BR & NOLA skew everything, and that the vast majority of counties nationwide have absolutely zero homicides in a year. I think it was Bapple or KingRanch had some official chart or stat.

I've seen the numbers for it when you pull out large urban areas for the country. Do that and we have less than Europe. Same applies to LA.
