Does a shrimp boat get a lot of by catch redfish and flounder also

I have shrimped a good bit in my life, owned a 35' skiff at one time. I honestly don't recall catching a redfish in a regular trawl, probably did but I don't recall any. We did catch small spec's and flounders but not in any large quantities.

I mostly pulled regular trawls 2 - 16's mostly but sometimes a single 35'.

Definitely real. Interesting thing about temperature is that it can be easily measured

And also easily manipulated?

NOAA always "adjusting" historical temps

Loss of habitat (because of many different reasons) surely contributing to redfish decline.

Went fishing w my nephew yesterday afternoon, and he said "where are all the grass islands go?" I said they've washed away.

Loss of habitat is the biggest factor affecting Big Lake right now.

Just my anecdotal side of this but I'd say from 2020-2023 it was much harder to catch redfish. In the past couple years it's been pretty easy. Seems like the population has bounced back in the last couple year. I fish anywhere from PAC to GI to Venice. Noticed a major bounce back last year near GI. Went on a warm day in December and reds were thickest I could remember in Marsh between GI and Leeville.

Last fall there were a dozen springs of grass left of what was turners island. The next day those were gone.
Haymark islands have shrunk again this year, I would give them one maybe two years and they will be gone.
Islands on the 210 flat are almost gone.
There is a pic in the office at the lodge taken in the 80’s. 2,340#’s of trout in a Carolina skiff caught with gill nets. Habitat loss is just as deadly to our fish as nets.

I just read the article and the only evidence they site is that one scientist disagrees with NOAA about a winter in New York for one year. Other than that there is no evidence that they constantly manipulate data.

I don't necessarily believe in Global warming, but I do think our climate changes.

Interesting things have been written on why official weather stations should not be at Airports because they are surrounded by concrete. Also the impact of growing urban areas and concrete holding more heat. I think that does skew data.
