I am setting up my first concealed carry rig. I'm already have a SA .45 ACP Lightweight Champion with 4" barrel. I'm avg height/weight (5'8" about 35" waist). I don't have a holster yet. Recommendations? Carry under arm or small of back?

If you went with N82 Tactical, I think these are more designed around the 1911. Maybe the other posters just misunderstood and thought you meant you had a Springfield XD.

I think the most common position to carry is between 3-6 oclock. I don't like carrying small of back because if I fall backwards, my spine is going to feel the full effects of the hard piece of metal in my waistband.
I usually carry around 4 oclock. It's far enough back to blend in and still gives you fairly easy access ( ).
Some people like appendix carry as well, but I feel like it would dig into your stomach too much.
Try out and see what you think is comfortable. That's the first time I've seen those N82 Tactical holsters but they look nice.
I carry my Ruger SR9c in a White Hat holster. It's really dependent on whether or not you want two belt clips or one.

I own both a N82 holster and a Crossbreed Supertuck. I prefer the Crossbreed.

Yea, I see where I should have mentioned it is a 1911.

I like Crossbreed. I also would not use a shoulder holster if that is what yu mean when you say under arm. If you mean the 3 0'clock position on your waist that is what I would recommend.

Look at Raven's offerings too. They're a bit of a wait, but most people seem to think it's worth it.

Brick,
I'm going to be the contrarian here and go w/ an all leather holster. Everyone has different tastes; for the most part, mine are all leather instead of Kydex or hybrids (Kydex + leather. I use a "Lone Wolf-T" from Woolfe Gun Leather to cc my 4 1/4" 1911. Personally, I don't like shoulder holster carry or small of the back carry; I prefer inside the waistband (IWB) carry. The exact location usually varies some for different gun/holster combos. I carry the Commander at 3:30 to 4:00. I can highly recommend Woolfe Gun Leather.
