I suggest that the Snubbie .38 that gets recco'ed for women is a bad idea. You can hit something at 7 yards if you stannd still and pull the trigger slowly, but at 220 heart rate and tunnel vision you will spray 5 shots somewhere in front of you at best. Not that any other handgun will be a lot better unless you train enough to remember the sights. Which means thousands of rounds. A 4 inch revolver will fit in most purses, be easier to aim, and have a much much better trigger.
That said, a DA revolver won't ever go off in a purse. A SA or striker gun needs to be in a dedicated holster.
Also, will her work allow her to carry it in?
